Would anyone be interested in creating decks for some of the other houses to expand the HBO game? It looks like many of the HBO cards are based on/toned down versions of cards from the LCG.

There are probably enough characters from seasons 1-3 to form a balanced Targaryen or Baratheon deck. Greyjoys would probably need to be stretched heavily to form a deck, and it probably wouldn't work too well. We'd have to see how the season goes.

OMG yes... ive been thinking about it, but I dont know how. I would definitely buy if an expansion came out. Greyjoys would need some help with the background/extra chars that many people who didnt read the books would not know who they were.

So heres a go at characters for Targs, i figure locations and events would be pretty easy:

Dany
Drogo
Jorah
Barristan
Viserys
3 Khal riders (sorry dont know names for these)
3 maids
3 dragons
Khal riders
Unsullied
Illyrio
Missadanei sp?
Free Slaves
Unfree slaves
Quaithe?
Xaro?

if they show up:
Green Grace?
Daario?
Hizdhar?
shavepates
mercenary companies (3)

thats around 30 so that could make a good stack

Baratheons would be harder I think, unless you include renly with stannis i guess cause tyrells wont come in force for a while (on the show);

Stannis
Melisandre
Davos
Sallador Saan
Davos sons (idk how many were shown on the show, 3?)
Selyse?
Shireen?
Patchface (cause... patchface.)
Maester Cressen
Axell Florent (was he even shown?)
Imry Florent

Some basic filler (like winterfell guards)
Storm knights
Storm soldiers
Lyseni fleet
King's men
Queen's men

Including Renly;
Renly
Brienne
Loras
Margarey?
Rainbow guard

I didnt add robert since hes in the stark deck arleady. Im trying to stick to TV show characters as much as possible, im sure you could always add in more filler cards, but baratheons gonna be lil trickier.

Should I have put Spoilers in the title? Is that a concern on these boards?

I think the Baratheon deck should definitely have Renly, Loras, and Margarey, since they were introduced on/had connections to that team. But yeah, I want to stick to ONLY T.V. show characters, named or otherwise, which means we might have to cut some corners and work around some gaps. (Gendry could be thrown in the Baratheon deck if we needed another minor named character, for example)

I'm going to break down the Stark and Lannister decks later today and compare the builds to see how many duplicate "main" characters, single copy "main" characters, minor characters, and no-name characters there are, and then try and build a list.

I've been checking this wiki page to reference the characters that are in the show - I keep forgetting they haven't shown everyone I've seen in the books, and a few characters had name changes which threw me off.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Game_of_Thrones_charact...

Also, once we get a list, it'd be pretty easy to check for that character's existence in the LCG and reference it on this deck building tool: http://www.cardgamedb.com/index.php/GoTDeckbuilder.html

Breaking them down into HBO versions shouldn't be hard.

It would also be really fun to come up with a few new plot cards - maybe taking the stats/effects of LCG ones, but renaming them to fit the show a bit better.

Version 2 of House Baratheon posted below.

Alright, so here's my first attempt at a Baratheon deck:

The Baratheon deck is based around Stannis' firm belief that he is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, and plays around gaining power through Dominance and Power Challenges. It does not have the income or control of the Lannister deck, or the speed of the Stark deck. The Baratheon deck slowly builds itself up, but it intends to overpower you.

I haven't actually tested it yet - my main concern is that it might be a little too good at gaining dominance/winning power challenges. I figued that it gets balanced out by not having only 1 way to save characters (not including duplicates), or make them easier to play (very little extra gold, nothing that reduces cost) and few options for extra card draw.

I based the cards on their counterparts from the LCG, with tweaks to powers/costs/strengths here and there. If a card used the 'Shadows' mechanic, I had to come up with my own changes, and if a card referred to "kneeling influence", I changed it to "paying X gold".

I'll make proxies on index cards and test it out, and then I'll report back.

Characters (26)

[U]Stannis Baratheon x2
-4 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Power. Lord. Renown. When Stannis Baratheon is attacking, if the defending player controls no Lord characters, that player cannot declare defenders.

[U]Melisandre x 2
-4 Cost, 3 STR, Intrigue, Power. Lady, Asshai. Renown. Challenges: If you win an Intrigue or Power challenge unopposed, claim 1 additional power. Dominance: If you win dominance, claim 1 additional power.
*I reworded her power slightly.

[U] Ser Davos Seaworth x2
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Power. Lord. Knight. Smuggler. Stealth. Response: Pay 1 gold to save Ser Davos Seaworth from being killed and return him to your hand.
Originally, I was using the version of Davos that saved attachments from being discarded, but the deck wound up using attachments that "saving" them wouldn't make sense thematically (blessings and conditions). I combined that Davos with the version that can save himself from being killed.

[U]Brienne of Tarth x2
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Military. Lady, Knight. Renown. Brienne of Tarth is immune to opponent’s character abilities.

[U]Sallador Saan x1
-4 Cost, 2 STR, Military, Intrigue. Ally. Marshalling: Kneel Salladhor Saan to choose discard 1 location from play. Limit once per round.
*I limited Sallador’s power to once per round.

[U]Renly Baratheon x1
-3 Cost, 2 STR, Military, Intrigue, Power. Lord. Renown. Any Phase: Pay 1 Gold to stand Renly Baratheon.
*I removed Renly’s immunity power, and replaced it with Renown.

[U] Margaery Tyrell x1 (Neutral)
-3 Cost, 2 STR, Intrigue, Power. Lady. House Tyrell. Any Phase: Kneel Margaery Tyrell to choose an opponent. That opponent must choose and reveal a new plot card. Limit once per round.
*I lowered Margaery’s STR by 1 – her power is very good.

[U] Maester Cressen x1
-2 Cost, 1 STR, Power. Maester. Marshalling: Kneel Maester Cressen to choose and discard a Condition attachment from play.
*I lowered Maester Cressen’s STR by 1.

[U]Ser Loras Tyrell x1 (Neutral)
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Military. Lord. Knight. House Tyrell. Renown.
*Based on the “Knight of Flowers” from the Core Set. I took away his auto gain power, and gave him Renown. I also added the House Tyrell keyword.

[U]Gendry Waters x1
-1 Cost, 1 STR, Power. Bastard. Ally.
*Based on the “Bastard in Hiding” card. I considered reducing his cost to 0, but the Baratheon deck is very Power heavy – I feel like a 0 cost Power attacker would be stronger than it sounds.

[U] Selyse Baratheon x1
-2 Cost, 2 STR, Intriuge, Power. Lady. Challenges: Pay 1 Gold to choose a unique character. Until the end of this phase, that character gains an Intrigue icon.
*Selyse is credited in the show (I don’t remember her, maybe she’ll show up in S3), and even though she’s been a background character, her ability helps this deck. It’s lacking on Intrigue icons. I didn’t bother with the House Florent trait.

[U] Shireen Baratheon x1
-0 Cost, 1 STR, Power. Lady.
*I dropped Shireen’s cost to 0, but also removed her ability and dropped her Intrigue icon. Shireen is supposed to show up this season, according to the wiki, but we'll see.

[U]Matthos Seaworth x1
-2 Cost, 2 STR, Military, Intrigue. Ally. Matthos Seaworth has the Stealth ability as long as a character you control has power on them.
*Based on the Devan Seaworth card.

[U] The Queen of Thorns x1 (Neutral)
-3 Cost, 2 STR, Intrigue, Power. House Tyrell. Lady. Response: When an opponent plays a Unique character, the Queen of Thorns claims 1 power. Limit once per phase.
*The shadows mechanic doesn’t exist, but Lady Olenna is such a cool character that she needed to be in this game. I took raised her cost and lowered her strength, and changed her power from claiming power for characters coming out of shadows to characters coming into play. I know she only comes into the show after the Tyrells leave the Baratheons, but the other two Tyrell characters are in this deck, so she might as well be.

Renly’s Host x3
-1 Cost, 1 STR, Military, Power. Ally. After you play Renly’s Host, draw a card.
*This one’s from scratch. I’ll have to play around with this, but Baratheons had no good non-uniques to match the Stark Escorts/Lannister Men-At-Arms.

Host of Storm’s End x2
-5 Cost, 6 STR, Military, Power. Army. Attachments cannot be played on Host of Storm’s End.
*I reworded this card to fit the HBO version, based on Winterfell Vanguard.

[U]Robert Baratheon x1
Same as HBO game.

[U]Varys x1
Same as HBO game.

[U]Littlefinger x1
Same as HBO game.

Locations (8)

[U]The Iron Throne x1
Same as HBO game.

[U]King's Landing x1
Same as HBO game.

[U] Dragonstone x1
-2 Cost. Westeros. Limited. If you win dominance, you may claim an additional dominance.
*Renamed/Reworded Storm’s End. Dragonstone has been shown more (have we even seen Storm’s End at all, actually?) I added the Limited keyword, and simplified the ability. I want to keep the Baratheon deck Dominance/Power focused, but nerf it a little at the same time.

Smuggler’s Cove x1
-2 Cost. Westeros. Challenges: During a Power challenge, kneel Smuggler’s Cove to give a participating character Stealth.
*Stealth seems really good in this game, so I removed the +2 STR bonus and upped the cost by 1. I’m considering adding the Limited keyword too.

Altar of Fire x1
-1 Cost. Storm’s End. Response: After you win an Intrigue challenge, kneel Altar of Fire to look at the losing opponent’s hand. Choose and discard 1 card from their hand.
*Simplified the wording, otherwise still the same.

Dragonstone Dungeons x1
-1 Cost. Westeros. Challenges: Kneel Dragonstone Dungeons and choose an opposing character. That character cannot be declared as an attacker this phase.
*From scratch. Locations for Baratheons were hard to come up with, so I decided to go with the Dungeons (the image of Stannis sending Davos there would work well!). I didn’t want to make anything as powerful as Littlefinger’s Brothel, either.

Dragonstone Port x2
-0 Cost. Westeros. Limited. +1 Gold.
*Reworded Winterfell Keep.

Attachments (6)

[U] Lightbringer x1
-2 Cost. Weapon. Response: Kneel Lightbringer to save attached character from being killed.
*Removed some words to fit with HBO game, otherwise the same. Have we seen lightbringer in the show yet? I really need to rewatch the first two seasons.

R’hollor’s Blessing x3
-1 Cost. Condition. After you play R’hollor’s Blessing, draw a card. Attached character gets +1 STR. Limit 1 per character.
*Lowered it from a +2, limited it to 1 per character since I put 3 in the deck.

[U] Lucky Bones x1
-1 Cost. Condition. Response: After you win a Power challenge in which attached character participated, kneel Lucky Bones to draw a card. If the attached character is Ser Davos Seaworth, draw 2 cards instead.
*Davo’s Finger bones! I removed the discard effect and made them unique. I don’t think it will change the card balance – this deck doesn’t have much card draw.

Accepted Destiny x1
-1 Cost. Condition. Limited. Attached character gets +1 STR for every 2 power on your House Banner (Round Down).
*I added the Condition keyword and made it Limited, as well as making it a +1 for every 2 power instead of 1:1. This card is really cool, and fits the theme so well, but seems super powerful in its unmodified from against the other HBO cards. Limited slows the deck down, and making it a condition could makes it easier to deal with.

Events (10)

Obey the King x2
Challenges: Stand or Kneel 1 character.

Dark Prophecy x2
Response: After you win dominance or after you win a Power challenge, reveal the top 5 cards of an opponent’s deck. You may discard 1 card. Put the rest on top in any order.

Ours is the Fury x2
Response: After you win a Power challenge by 4 or more STR, stand all participating characters you control.

Heart of the Stag x2
Challenges: Choose an attacking House Baratheon character to get +2 STR and Renown until the end of the challenge.

Superior Claim x2
Response: After you win a Power challenge by 4 or more STR, claim 2 power for your house. Limit 1 Superior Claim per challenge.

Whipped this up for the Targaryen deck:

The Targaryen deck represents the varied army that Daenerys Targaryen is slowly building while she travels through the Free Cities and the East. The Targaryen deck focuses on gathering allies with various abilities, or mustering large, powerful forces - including dragons.

I tried to take advantage of the "cool" things about Daenerys' storylines - the Dothraki play a large role in the deck, and I attempted to include lots of Dothraki synergy. The Dragons are a vital part of her character, and thus are key to this deck's success. And recently, Daenerys drastically increased the size of her army, which I tried to represent by giving her what would be the highest STR card between all 4 HBO decks so far!

To balance it out, there are not many options when it comes to saving characters (which works well thematically), the deck's strength is mostly tied to its military challenges, and the deck has quite a few expensive cards. I'll have to see how it plays out.

I have to go through and see how this works - the Targaryen deck could either be extremely powerful or too expensive/slow to function.

Characters (26)
[U]Daenerys Targaryen x2
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Intrigue, Power. Lady, Queen. Renown. If you win a challenge in which Danerys Targaryen attacked alone, move all gold tokens from the losing opponent’s gold pool to your gold pool.

[U]Khal Drogo x2
-4 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Power. Dothraki, Lord. Response: After you win a Power challenge in which Khal Drogo is participating, choose and kill 1 character with lower STR than Khal Drogo.

[U] Ser Jorah Mormont x2
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Intrigue, Power. Knight, Ally. Stealth. After Ser Jorah Mormont comes into play, choose and discard 1 Mercenary or Ally character from play.
I changed Joust into Stealth.

[U] Ser Barristan Selmy x1
-4 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Power. Knight. Renown. Challenges: When Ser Barristan Selmy attacks or defends, you may discard a card from your hand to give a participating character -2 STR until end of phase; kill that character if its STR is 0.

[U] Magister Illyrio x1
-3 Cost, 2 STR, Military, Intrigue. Lord, Ally. +1 Gold
I lowered Illyrio’s cost and STR, and got rid of his ability. Giving gold seemed in character, and the deck needs it. Ally keyword seemed appropriate.

[U] Viserys Targaryen x1
-1 Cost, 1 STR, Power. Lord. When Viserys Targaryen leaves play, draw a card.
I removed Viserys’ self-save response. It seemed appropriate to reward you for letting him die.

[U] Xaro Xoan Daxos x1
-3 Cost, 2 STR, Military, Intrigue, Power. Ally. When Xaro Xoan Daxos comes into play, you must return a character you control to your hand.
Lowered Xaro’s STR.

[U] Missandei x1
-0 Cost, 1 STR, Intrigue. Ally. Any Phase: If you are the only player with a Queen character, kneel Missandei to draw a card.
Heavily modified. Swapped Power for Intrigue, and changed her ability to card draw, but still based on having a Queen. Zero cost doesn’t seem broken, but could also be 1.

[U] Viserion x1
-4 Cost, 4 STR, Military, Power. Dragon. Attachments cannot be played on Viserion. Stealth. Dominance: Pay 4 Gold to kill a kneeling character. Limit once per phase.

[U] Rhaegal x1
-4 Cost, 4 STR, Military, Power. Dragon. Attachments cannot be played on Rhaegal. Stealth. Any phase: Pay 1 gold to draw a card.
There aren’t any duplicates of Rhaegal in the deck, so I had to change his power. 1 gold for 1 card seemed basically the same.

[U] Drogon x1
-4 Cost, 4 STR, Military, Power. Dragon. Attachments cannot be played on Drogon. Stealth. Any phase: Pay 2 gold to give a character -1 STR until the end of the phase; that character is killed if its STR is 0. Limit once per phase.

[U] Daario Naharis x1
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Intrigue, Power. Ally, Mercenary. Stealth. Dominance: Discard 1 gold from any player’s gold pool or discard Daario Naharis from play.
Reworded, and changed Deadly into Stealth.

[U]Grey Worm x1
-4 Cost, 3 STR, Military. Unsullied. After you win a challenge in which Grey Worm participated, claim 1 power for your House.
Grey Worm in the LCG is too “complicated” for the HBO game I think, so I simplified him by giving him “improved” Renown – the power he claims goes right to the house, so it’s safer than staying on a character card. I think that justifies his 4 cost, but we’ll see how it plays.

[U] Pyat Pree x1 (Neutral)
-2 Cost, 1 STR, Intrigue. Ally. Pyat Pree does not kneel to attack. Dominance: If you have at least 3 characters in your dead pile, return Pyat Pree from your dead pile to your hand.
I took the “Blue Lipped Warlock” card and used it for Pyat Pree. I thought the coming back from the dead pile could represent his illusions/spells of multiplying himself.

[U] Mirri Maz Duur x1 (Neutral)
-2 Cost, 1 STR, Intrigue, Power. Ally. Challenges: Kneel Mirri Maz Duur; characters cannot be saved during military challenges this phase.
I switched up the “Bitter Crone” card to represent Mirri Maz Duur, the maegi woman. I took away her Dothraki keyword because I don’t think she was Dothraki, and I don’t want to give an extra bonus to Drogo’s Horde. Feel free to correct me, it’s been a while since I’ve watched season 1/read book 1.

Dothraki Handmaiden x3
-1 cost, 1 STR, Intrigue. Dothraki. Ally. Challenges: Kneel Dothraki Handmaiden to give an attacking Dothraki character +2 STR until the end of that challenge.
Reworded – even though they have the same stats as the reworded Missandei, I think their power is more likely to work (and it’s better), justifying Missandei’s 0 cost and Handmaiden’s 1.

Drogo’s Horde x1
-6 Cost, 6 STR. Military. Dothraki, Army. Limited. Attachments cannot be played on Drogo’s Horde. Renown. Reduce the cost to play Drogo’s Horde by 1 for each Dothraki character you control.
I took away Drogo’s Horde’s Power Icon, but I replaced “Deadly” with “Renown”. I gave it Limited to balance it’s discount (even though I didn’t make that up).

Eight Thousand Unsullied x1
-8 cost, 8 STR, Military, Power. Unsullied, Army. Limited. Attachments cannot be played on Eight Thousand Unsullied. You cannot play Eight Thousand Unsullied unless you control a Queen character. If you control a Queen character, Eight Thousand Unsullied does not kneel to attack.
This one is a heavily modified “Queen Daenerys’ Horde”. I wanted to represent Daenerys’ newly acquired army of Unsullied, and I thought that the card “Queen Daenerys’ Horde” represented that well. Plus, the 8’s everywhere tie it together and makes it pretty cool. The Unsullied are made out to be a BIG deal in the show, so I thought it was appropriate that they’re the biggest card in the HBO game.
However, balancing an 8 STR card seems pretty rough. I didn’t want to let it cost 4 if you had Daenerys in play, so I decided it can only be played if you have the queen. If you manage to keep Daenerys alive, it makes the card awesome by not kneeling to attack. But, I took one more precaution for balance and I removed its Power icon, and gave it Limited (not like you could play anything else with an 8 cost).

[U]Varys x1
Same as HBO game.

[U]Littlefinger x1
Same as HBO game.

Locations (10)
[U]The Iron Throne x1
Same as HBO game.

[U]King's Landing x1
Same as HBO game.

Dothraki Sea x3
-0 Cost. The East. Limited. +1 Gold.
*Reworded Winterfell Keep.

Pentos x1
-1 Cost. Free Cities. +2 Gold
*From scratch. There aren’t enough attachments to make the actual Pentos card viable.

Astapor x1
-1 Cost. The East. Challenges: Kneel Astapor to give a Dragon character +2 Str in a challenge. If you win that challenge, stand that character.
*Reworded a bit.

Qarth x1
-1 Cost. The East. Challenges: Kneel Qarth to give a Dragon character an Intrigue Icon and Renown until the end of the phase.
*Reworded, replaced “deadly” with “renown”

Xaro’s Home x1
-0 Cost. Free Cities. Any Phase: Pay 1 Gold to draw a card.
I changed it up to not rely on attachments being played since there are so few in the deck. Also plays well with the way they presented Xaro’s home in the show I think!

Vaes Dothrak x1
-3 Cost. The East. Response: After you win a Military challenge with at least 1 Dothraki character participating, kneel Vaes Dothrak to choose one of the following effects: Draw a card; Move 1 Power from the losing opponent’s house banner to your own; have the losing opponent discard 1 card at random.

Attachments (4)
Unburnt x1
-0 cost. Condition. Response: Save attaced character from being killed, then return that character to its owner’s hand.

Dragon Bite x2
-0 cost. Condition. Attached character is killed any time it is participating in a challenge in which a Dragon character is participating.

Dragon Egg x1
-2 cost. Limited. Marshalling: Kneel attached character to reduce the cost of the next Dragon character you play this phase to 0.
Reworked “Dragon Lore” card. I added limited, because I can see this being really powerful in a Setup hand. Being Limited doesn’t stop that, but it does slow it down. I also added 1 to the cost since I’m letting it be attached to characters that aren’t Maesters.

Events (10)

Deadly Khalasar x2
Response: After an opponent’s character is killed in a Military challenge, stand all Dothraki characters.

Ride them Down x2
Challenges: Choose an attacking Dothraki or Knight character. That character gains Renown until the end of the challenge.
Response: After you win a Power Challenge with 4 or more total STR, return Ride Them Down from your discard pole to your hand. Limit once per turn.

“Dracarys.” x2
Response: If an opponent would win a Power challenge against you, you automatically win the challenge instead. Limit one True Power per phase.
Reworded “True Power”. Renamed to call back to the awesome moments in the show.

The Dragon’s Fire x2
Challenges: Choose a challenge in which a Dragon character is attacking. Defending characters get -1 STR. If a character’s STR is reduced to 0, kill that character.
Reworded.

Fire and Blood x2
Challenges: Choose a [Unique] House Targaryen character. That character gets +2 STR until the end of the phase. Then, attach this card to that character as if it were a duplicate.
Reworded. Added the Unique stipulation so that this card can’t be abused with the Unsullied Army or Dothraki Army.

New Versions posted!

Yeah, I think I'm going to hold off on Greyjoys until we see how this season plays out. If I want to go for a fifth player, I'm thinking about doing a "Wall" deck - Night's Watch and wildling characters.

I've been re-reading the cards, and I think I need to make some changes. I haven't played them yet so I don't know, but here are my considerations:

Baratheon:

Stannis needs the King keyword, and his ability could be a little broken. I'm thinking maybe going super simple with him, and doing something like "If you are the only player with a King character, Stannis gets +1 STR."

Accepted Destiny should probably give +1 STR for each Power on a character, instead of on the house banner. That seems more fair and easier to deal with.

I'm wondering if Margaery's ability to switch plot cards is too good? Maybe give her something simpler, like "Margery Tyrell gets +1 STR if you have more power on your house banner than your opponents."

I can see Brienne creating confusing interactions. Maybe simplfy her to "Brienne of Tarth cannot be knelt by opponent's cards."

With Winterfell vanguard and The two Dothraki armies, letting Baratheons have a 6 STR card seems unfair to the lannisters- even if there is only one of them in this deck. I think it might better to drop it to a 4 STR, maybe 5 cost? Rename it Stannis' Fleet or something.

Salladhor Saan seems very good, too. I think I might add a gold cost to his ability, or change it entirely. Maybe he could let you pay gold to get Stealth?

Targaryen:

I think I might change Daenerys' power, but I don't know what to change it to yet. Maybe instead she allows Kneeling Dragons to count towards dominance? Maybe she gets +1 STR for each Dragon she controls?

I think I'm going to change Ser Barristan Selmy's ability to: "Any Phase: Kneel Ser Barristan Selmy to save a [U] character"

New Greyjoy deck posted below!

Changed my mind, made a Greyjoy deck:

The idea is that the Greyjoy’s strengths lie in hitting hard early – they don’t have the staying power (strength wise) to handle late game attacks.

Since the Ironborn believe that "What is dead may never die", I chose to give them many duplicates/save effects, which helps them stay on the board and attack your opponents early. I also tried to represent the Ironborn as raiders (effects based on winning attacks/stealing cards/or having things affected by locations on both sides).

I wanted to represent their history with Balon's rebellion by being a deck based around taking advantage of certain situations, but once the opponent is prepared, they're can beaten back.

Currently, I think the Greyjoys may be the most underpowered of the HBO decks. We'll see after I play them.

Characters (24)

[U] Theon Greyjoy x3
-2 Cost, 2 STR, Military, Power. Lord, Ironborn. Any Phase: Pay 1 Gold to Kneel a Location. Limit once per turn.

[U] Yara Greyjoy x3
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Intrigue. Lady, Ironborn. Renown. Yara Greyjoy does not kneel to attack if defending player has a 3 or more Locations.
Modified Asha Greyjoy. Instead of not kneeling based on 3 or more cards in a discard pile, I based it on 3 or more locations.

[U] Balon Greyjoy x3
-4 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Power. Lord, King, Ironborn. Renown. Challenges: If the defending player controls more Locations than you, Balon Greyjoy gets +1 STR.
Modified Balon Greyjoy. Just like I’m rethinking Stannis’ power, I think Balon’s LCG power would be too strong against HBO decks. I switched it to a simple bonus based on Locations, to fit with the theme of the deck and Balon’s Rebellion.

[U] Dagmer x2
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Power. Ironborn, Ally. Stealth. Challenges: If Dagmer participates in an unopposed challenge, Dagmer gains Renown.
The Greyjoys are stretched thin for [U] characters in the show, so I re-themed Iron Fleet Captain into Dagmer, since he was a minor character. I reworded the power, but it’s basically the same. Removed Raider keyword, added Ally.

Iron Fleet Raiders x2
-2 Cost, 5 STR, Military. Ironborn, Army, Ally. Limited. Attachments cannot be played on Iron Fleet Raiders. Any Phase: An opponent may discard a card from the top of their deck to give Iron Fleet Raiders -2 STR until the end of the phase.
This card might work, but might also prove broken. We’ll see. Removed Raider keyword. Added Army. Added Limited to balance it out. Keeping Ally makes them easier to dispose of (Ex: HBO Varys).

Ironborn Marauders x3
-2 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Power. Ironborn, Army. Limited. Attachments cannot be played on Ironborn Marauders.
Changed the name of Sea Raiders.

Ironborn Reaver x3
-1 Cost, 1 STR, Military. Ironborn, Ally. When Ironborn Raider is played, you may have an opponent discard a card.
From scratch, based on Stark Escort.

Priest of the Drowned God x1
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Power. Ironborn. Challenges: Kneel Priest of the Drowned God and discard a card to save an Ironborn character from being killed.
Modified Priest of the Drowned God. You still lose a card, but you save a character instead of getting +1 Str.

Salt Wife x2 (Neutral)
-1 cost, 1 STR, Intrigue. Ally. Response: Kneel Salt Wife to Stand an Ironborn character.
Modified Salt Wife – there are enough ways to save characters in this deck.

[U]Varys x1
Same as HBO game.

[U]Littlefinger x1
Same as HBO game.

Locations (10)
[U]The Iron Throne x1
Same as HBO game.
[U]King's Landing x1
Same as HBO game.

[U]The Seastone Chair x1
-3 Cost. Iron Islands. Challenges: Whenever an opposing character is killed, claim 1 power and draw 1 card.
From scratch. The Greyjoy deck is really only good at military challenges, so they need help.

[U]Pyke x1
-2 Cost. Iron Islands. Limited. Marshalling: Kneel Pyke to lower the cost of the next House Greyjoy character you play this phase by 2.
From scratch – based on Winterfell Heart Tree.

The Iron Islands x2
-1 Cost. Limited. Westeros. Kneel The Iron Islands to lower the cost of the next House Greyjoy character you play this phase by 1.
Modified Iron Island Fiefdoms/Winterfell Keep.

Raiding Longship x2
-2 Cost. Warship. Challenges: Kneel Raiding Longship to give an attacking character Renown until the end of the challenge. If an opposing character dies during the challenge, draw a card.
Modified Longship Black Wind.

The Iron Cliffs x2
-1 Cost. Iron Islands. Limited. After The Iron Cliffs comes into, place 2 gold tokens from the treasury pile on it. Response: Discard 1 gold token from the Iron Cliffs to save an Ironborn character from being killed.
Slightly modified Iron Cliffs. I’m considering switching the gold tokens for power tokens to give the deck a bit of a boost.

Attachments (6)

The Iron Price x3
-1 Cost. Condition. When the attached character participates in a challenge, this character claims 1 power for each character that is killed.
Modified Iron Price.

Seized x1
-2 Cost. Condition. Attach to a non-unique location. You gain control of this location as long as Seized remains attached.
I removed the requirement of non-limited. It doesn’t seem broken (there aren’t many non unique locations you’d want to steal in the HBO game), and theres only 1 in the deck. Also, I specified that if the attachment is discarded you lose control of the location.

Outfitted for War x1
-1 Cost. Condition. Attached character gets +1 STR and Renown.

Burned and Pillaged x1
-2 Cost. Condition. Limited. Attach to a Location. Kneel attached Location. This location does not Stand during the Standing phase as long as Burned and Pillaged is attached.
Location based Imprisoned. Seems fitting.

Events (10)

We Take Westeros! x2
Challenges: After you win a Military challenge, stand all participating Ironborn characters. Until the end of the phase, they gain Power Icon. Limit 1 We Take Westeros ! per turn.
From scratch. The Greyjoy deck needs all the help it can get, I think. Their only strength is Military challenges, and they’re not even the best at that. If you get an early Military win, this card can help you gain some Power. Also, this card has an added clever play bonus: it can be used defensively.

We Do Not Sow x2
Challenges: After you win a challenge as the attacker, move all of the gold in the defending player’s gold pool to your gold pool.
From scratch. This might work? It’s a chance at getting dominance. We’ll see.

The Drowning x2
Response: Save an Ironborn character from being killed. Then that character claims 1 power.
From scratched, based on “Sacrificed to Two Gods”

Ours for the Taking x2
Any Phase: Choose 1 location with that can Kneel for an effect. You may copy that effect without Kneeling the location.
Slightly modified.

Nighttime Raid x2
Challenges: Choose an attacking House Greyjoy character you control. That character gains Stealth until end of turn. If you win the challenge, discard 1 attachment from play.
Slightly reworded.

You could add aeron greyjoy, i believe they show him in the show... really good so far, i am not sure about the targs, they seem mighty powerful in the military, almost like a buffed stark deck, maybe try and make them more balanced between all 3 challenges, but not really strong in any? that way it gives more variety?

Yeah the Targaryen deck is definitely looking like the most powerful. Luckily, it's the one my playgroup is asking for the most so I'm sure we can really work out its kinks.

I really want to test the Greyjoy deck, since I had to come up with a lot modifications- if it turns out okay I'll be more comfortable with just making up my own stats and doing more cards from scratch, which might be easier to balance.

I took another shot at the Targaryen Deck, since I think it was probably too powerful. The new deck is mostly cards I made up from scratch, or heavily modified versions of their LCG counterparts.

The idea behind this version of the deck was to make a heavily synergistic deck: Without Daenerys and her dragons, the deck falls apart - but together, she makes a formidable foe.

The deck still has a military bent, but I tried to balance that with plenty of access to Intrigue and Power. Certain cards might allow you to pull off an Intrigue attack, but it's mostly defense. For Power, the deck may struggle in the beginning, but if you get your Dragons and Daenerys, your opponents will cower.

I tried to keep the values average, and I lowered the strength and raised the costs here and there. If you manage to keep Daenerys alive (especially with her dragons), the deck will shine, but without her it can still function.

I wanted the Dragons to be powerful, but not game breaking. The Dragons are such a force/symbol in the show that I wanted that to come across in their cards - alone the dragons are below average, but together they are almost unstoppable!

I think I gave the Eight Thousand Unsullied enough conditions to balance their 8 STR, but I may have over-nerfed them.

This deck might still prove to be too powerful (still haven't actually done any testing), but I think it is more balanced compared to the previous version.

EDIT: I gave the Dragons Limited.

Targs look better, I like the synergy with dany and the dragons, very thematic... now only to put these in cards and print them! let me know, i would definitely like to play test these as well... I have GIMP, but im not sure if that would work with printing these out, id rather not write them on white cards lol

New Baratheons below!

Okay, attempt #2 at the Baratheons, this time taking a hint from Targaryen attempt #2 - heavily modified/from scratch.

The Baratheon Deck is still all about power: Having the most power will activate some characters abilities, and some attachments/characters are affected by having Power on their cards. The deck is very good at Power challenges, can handle Intrigue challenges, but has a slow build to Military. I noticed the Stark and Lannister decks were conservative when it came to giving characters Renown/Stealth, so I removed many instances of those powers from this deck. Instead, I gave the Baratheon deck the option to give characters Renown through an attachment.

This deck only has 1 way to save characters, besides duplicates, which means the power claimed by characters is very vulnerable. I decided to represent the Shadowy Assassin as an event card, and have it similar to a Lannister Pays his Debts for balance.

House Greyjoy Deck, v.2

The new version of the Greyjoy deck is very close to the original idea, but I've added two new characters, reduced the number of duplicates on Theon, Yara, and Balon, and tweaked some of the powers/cards to make the deck more in line with the re-tooled Baratheon/Targaryens.

The Ironborn still aim to hit fast and hard, and location manipulation/effects still are a large part of the army. I tried to balance them with their Power and Intrigue challenges, but they're still lacking. If the Greyjoys would be considered good at anything, it's staying on the board, and with Damphair they even get rewarded for being saved.

Characters (26)

[U] Theon Greyjoy x2
-2 Cost, 2 STR, Military, Power. Lord, Ironborn. Any Phase: Pay 1 Gold to Kneel a Location. Limit once per turn.

[U] Yara Greyjoy x2
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Intrigue. Lady, Ironborn. Renown. Yara Greyjoy does not kneel to attack if defending player has a kneeling Location.

[U] Balon Greyjoy x2
-4 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Intrigue, Power. Lord, King, Ironborn. Renown. Challenges: If the defending player controls more Locations than you, Balon Greyjoy gets +1 STR.

[U] Damphair x2
-4 Cost, 3 STR, Intrigue, Power. Ironborn. Whenever a House Greyjoy character is saved, Damphair claims 1 power.

[U] Dagmer x1
-3 Cost, 3 STR, Military, Power. Ironborn, Ally. Stealth. Challenges: If Dagmer participates in an unopposed challenge, Dagmer claims 1 power.

[U] Black Lorren x1
-2 Cost, 2 STR, Military. Ironborn, Ally. Challenges: Discard 1 card to give Black Lorren +1 STR. Limit once per turn.

Iron Fleet Raiders x2
-2 Cost, 5 STR, Military, Power. Ironborn, Army, Ally. Limited. Attachments cannot be played on Iron Fleet Raiders. Any Phase: An opponent may discard a card from their hand to give Iron Fleet Raiders -2 STR until the end of the phase.

Ironborn Marauders x3
-2 Cost, 3 STR, Military. Ironborn, Army. Limited. Attachments cannot be played on Ironborn Marauders.

Ironborn Reaver x3
-1 Cost, 1 STR, Military. Ironborn, Ally. When Ironborn Raider is played, you may have an opponent discard a card.

Priest of the Drowned God x2
-3 Cost, 2 STR, Intrigue, Power. Ironborn. Challenges: Kneel Priest of the Drowned God and discard a card to save an Ironborn character from being killed. Limit once per turn.

Salt Wife x2 (Neutral)
-1 cost, 1 STR, Intrigue. Ally. Response: Kneel Salt Wife to Stand an Ironborn character.

[U]Varys x1
Same as HBO game.

[U]Littlefinger x1
Same as HBO game.

Locations (10)

[U]The Iron Throne x1
Same as HBO game.

[U]King's Landing x1
Same as HBO game.

[U]The Seastone Chair x1
-3 Cost. Iron Islands. Challenges: Once per turn, when an opposing character is killed during a challenge, claim 1 power and draw 1 card.

[U]Pyke x1
-2 Cost. Iron Islands. Limited. Marshalling: Kneel Pyke to lower the cost of the next House Greyjoy character you play this phase by 2.

The Iron Islands x2
-1 Cost. Limited. Westeros. Kneel The Iron Islands to lower the cost of the next House Greyjoy character you play this phase by 1.

Raiding Longship x2
-2 Cost. Warship. Challenges: Kneel Raiding Longship to give an attacking character Renown until the end of the challenge. If an opposing character dies during the challenge, draw a card.

Gold on The Iron Cliffs cannot be spent, and is not returned to the gold pool during the Taxation phase.

Attachments (6)

The Iron Price x3
-1 Cost. Condition. When the attached character participates in a challenge, this character claims 1 power for each opposing character that is killed.

Seized x1
-2 Cost. Condition. Attach to a non-unique location. You gain control of this location as long as Seized remains attached.

Outfitted for War x1
-1 Cost. Condition. Attached character gets +1 STR and Stealth.

Burned and Pillaged x1
-2 Cost. Condition. Limited. Attach to a Location. Kneel attached Location. This location does not Stand during the Standing phase as long as Burned and Pillaged is attached.

Events (10)

We Take Westeros! x2
Challenges: After you win a Military challenge, stand all participating Ironborn characters. Until the end of the phase, they gain +1 STR and Power Icon. Limit 1 We Take Westeros ! per turn.

We Do Not Sow x2
Challenges: After you win a challenge as the attacker, move all of the gold in the defending player’s gold pool to your gold pool.

The Drowning x2
Response: Save an Ironborn character from being killed. Then that character claims 1 power.

Ours for the Taking x2
Plot Phase: If an opponent would become the first player this turn, you become the first player instead.

Nighttime Raid x2
Challenges: Choose an attacking House Greyjoy character you control. That character gains Stealth until end of turn. If you win the challenge, kneel 1 location.

Played two games with the Targaryen Deck, and have a bunch of ideas for changes.

The first game went terribly: I played Starks, the lady played Targaryens, and I crushed her. The second game went much better: We swapped decks, and I gained a very large lead very quickly (like, 10 to 3 by turn 4- unopposed challenges and Grey Worm are awesome), but after turn 5 the deck turned against me, and after some bad plot plays by me and good ones from her, she later won 15-10.

Overall, the consensus was that on paper, a lot of the cards looked like they needed handicaps, but in reality it'd be very rare to see the combos, so they cuffs can come off. I'm going to buff some strengths, and reduce some costs. The Targaryen events were pretty much useless, so we talked over some new ones (since so much of the deck relies on Dany and her Dragons, we're going to add in some card searching).

Highlights: Daeny and the Dragons DO create the "Oh Shit!" moments I was hoping for/ Grey Worm is awesome if you get him early
Buzzkills: Even when the cards appear in the right combinations, they were too expensive to pull off/Useless events/Character abilities that were never used or saw no point in using them.

I'll write up the new Targaryens tomorrow. I probably won't run another test until the weekend - the lady seems to be getting a bit sick of the game. Feel free to test the cards on index cards (like I did) and get me suggestions!

Once I'm happy with a deck, I'm going to actually make the cards, and if they turn out really great I might even spend the money to get 'em printed out on cards.

Index cards make it easy to tweak things on the fly for testing

Played a game as the Baratheon deck (with minor tweaks to the posted version above) against the Lannisters. Baratheons won, but it was a close game. I'm going to test that matchup again, and then test against the Starks (hopefully later today), but the first impression I'm getting is that they're pretty solid.

I hope to have my friend whip up some templates for the card art over the next few days.

Played the House Baratheon Deck against Starks. I was Starks, and I was crushed, but I made a lot of mistakes and held back on turns I shouldn't have. I think the Baratheons are strong, but beatable, so I'm going to call them "finished for now" - I'll retest them (especially against the other custom decks), but I'll focus on getting the Targaryens fixed and start testing the Greyjoys before I get back to them.

If anyone is interested, the plots I used for both games w/ the Baratheon deck were: 15,20,22,26,27,28,32.

Current House Baratheon card list:

Update:

I haven't given up, despite the lack of updates! I've been really going over the "canon" decks, and after looking out how they've converted some of the cards from the LCG to the HBO version, I decided to try out a Baratheon and Targaryen deck that is as direct a conversion as possible, with minimal edits, and as few "custom" cards as possible.

I'm going to test these out tonight, hopefully.
