My game night tomorrow suddenly grew from three to eight players! I have Citadels and 7 Wonders (with Cities expansion). Any other light to middleweight games that I should think about picking up tonight that will play well with eight very social players?

Light to middleweight, 8 players = party game (some exceptions). If you do not enjoy these, split the group to two tables. Regroup after each game.

Shadow Hunters goes up to eight. It's a very fun social deduction style game where no one knows who anyone is. The Hunters are trying to kill all the Shadows, the Shadows are trying to kill all the Hunters, and the Neutrals have their own agenda. Not heavy on the strategy, a lot of luck, but a really fun game.

Shadow Hunters goes up to 7 (not sure if expansion changes that, but I didn't think so).

Use only one board though - and even then it can *drag* with 8.

Shadows over Camelot with Shadows over Camelot: Merlin's Company allows play with 8 players. Of the 8, 2 are traitors.

It goes to 8, although is probably best with 7 (2 hunters, 2 shadows, 3 neutrals).

That said Shadow Hunters was my first thought for the OP. Other games to look at:

Tsuro
Say Anything
Dixit: Odyssey

I'd also say to split into 2-3 groups. Try to pick games of roughly the same length, and play a little filler or just hang out while the other game finishes if you end first. Then shuffle around and play something else.

Also, with 8 players you can play the full setup of Memoir '44 Overlord.

+1 for BANG! The Bullet!
You could just stick with BANG! and the BANG! Dodge City expansion to get 8-player capability, but it probably costs about as much to just jump in with the Bullet which includes some additional cards and expansions.

Pergamemnon, when played with it's expansion plays up to eight. It's gotten some negative reviews, but I brought it to one of our MeetupsFebruary and played with six who all enjoyed it.

By the same designer, you could combine two games of PAX to accommodate eight players. I've never tried it with more than four, though.

Finally, there's always VivaJava: The Coffee Game.

Ultimately, you might want to break into two groups after the first round of gaming, though.

Plays 8 well in an hour to hour and a half. Very social, but not just a party game. There's a lot of Euro in there too. Great game. And great to look at too!

We have played Shadow Hunters (with expansion) with eight, nine and ten players using tokens from other games. This game is a little fun at the end of the night. The turns are fast and the game is over 20 minutes. Higher player counts work well.

I love Bang! as much as the next guy, in fact, probably way more. One of my favorites. But I would caution against the 8 player game. It drags and drags and drags, and elimination really, really sucks when there are this many players.

However, I would give my wholehearted support for The Resistance.

Thanks, gang, the suggestions are noted and appreciated. Shadow Hunters is a particularly good idea since I own it! Also looking at The Resistance: Avalon.

The Castle of the Devil should be good with eight.
Pow Wow goes up to eight.

Two copies of FITS and Take it Easy! can play eight or more.
