I am looking for a game that is for around 4 players, that takes a moderate amount of time to play, probably less than 3 hours, and isn't too difficult to grasp for adults who don't play many board games. Currently, the board games I often play are Twilight Struggle, Pandemic, and Diplomacy. Each have something that makes in not suitable for a fun, relaxed board game night (player count, easy difficulty, and tense atmosphere, respectively). Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Some medium length games that spring to mind:

Zombicide (well, some scenario can be 3+ hrs, but most are more like 1-2hrs).
Munchkin Quest (though, I've yet to play this, so don't know how good/fun it is (but it looks like it should be fun)).
Robo Rally.
Formula D.

And a couple of (well, four) shorter (filler) games:

King of Tokyo.
Tsuro.
Unexploded Cow.
Give me the Brain.

Zombicide looks like it may just be exactly what I wanted. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks, another game I've never heard of that seems to fit the bill quite nicely.
Does anyone have any opinions on the game Dominion?

Zombicide is great. Online you can download more scenarios. So that adds to replayability. Survive is also great

I'd keep things simple for now then introduce "Dominion" to your non board gaming friends after they've gained a little experience.

Dominion is actually a very good suggestion. Plays well with 4, easy to teach, relatively quick.

If you want something with minis and combat, Nexus Ops is worth looking into.

King of Tokyo is also entertaining & light. It's more of a filler game, though.

How is Revolution!? I hear it has a runaway leader and it ends up with people just bidding alternatively between two spots.

Also, I would not recommend Lifeboats if you want to keep your friendships. The game just encourages you to be evil to one another (unless you like that kind of game).

Risk: Halo Legendary Edition
Railways of the World
Neuroshima Hex!
Small World
Sentinels of the Multiverse

Ill second Zombicide, Formula De, and Robo Rally.

For the ones I listed.
Risk: Halo is what I used to introduce my GF and her siblings to wargames / strategy. They loved it, enough to where they want me to get Risk: Legacy

Railways of the World is simple enough to teach. Kind of like Chess.
Simple on the outside, but rather deep decision wise.

Neuroshima Hex is easy to learn and play.

Small World took maybe 5 minutes to explain. Simple, but they loved it.

Sentinels is complex but fairly easy enough to teach.

Dominion is a fairly straight-forward game to learn and play. It is very heavy on mechanics and light on theme. Zombicide is great, but expensive. Some people may not like the mechanics (like the ridiculous awesomeness of mowing down zombies with your car), and some of the scenarios are a bust. That being said, this game can be a real hit, especially if you don't take it too seriously and are just out to have a bit of zombie-filled fun.

By your game choice, I think you probably prefer games that are more thematic then those that are engine-builders, so Dominion is less likely to be something you and your game group would enjoy. A great game though, and the classic deck-builder.

I second Small World for a lighter, thematic game that plays 4 well and has a decent length. Easy to learn, easy to play and enjoy. If you want something more inexpensive, this will serve you well.

Flash Point: Fire Rescue is also worth looking into and probably a co-op game that will suit your tastes better.

Dice Town would be a blast. Wild West theme with dice and some elements of poker thrown in.
