I didn't submit it nor do I know the person who did, but at least it was original.

I should probably come up with some way to accept images like this without having them in the game pages. They are fun.

Set up a fun photos section. This doesn't belong in a game section but there should be a place on BGG for folks to have fun like this. After all, games are suppose to be fun.

There should absolutely be an off-topic / fun gallery.

I figure:

60% Meeple pics
20% Cats sitting in game boxes
10% Kids & Babies
5% Convention pix
3% Photoshopped versions of Derk as a sexay latex-clad hottie.
2% Stuff that hasn't been done to death already

Does that mean I can't decline them anymore because they are relevant in the OT gallery?

If they are submitted for a game and there is an OT gallery they should definitely be declined!

Oh, I took some photos of meeples in ice for a different project ... not sure I would have submitted one here, though.

I think someone before suggested splitting up the game pics into two groups for each game. Might be alot of work, though. Maybe set up mod for old images?

I think that's a great idea. I enjoy the 'fun' pictures too, but admit that it's sometimes a pain to sort through them to find the 'useful' pictures for some of the games. I have some thoughts on the issue in case you do decide to create a "fun photo-bin":

1) Make the 'fun' photos linkable to the geek lists, as many lists are more lighthearted and the fun photos are appropriate.

2) Don't make 'fun' photos eligible for geek gold (or perhaps a lesser amount now that we're into 'geek change' anyway). I think the fun in uploading and sharing these pics is the reward itself, and it might help to discourage wave after wave of copy-cat images (pun intended)

3) Some 'fun' photos will be clear cut decisions (cat in the box). Others, not much so ... is a picture of a group of people playing the game fun or useful? I think it'd be best to let the geekmods decide by having that option added to the geekmod system (i.e. approve, approve and recommend, approve for the 'fun photo bin'). I have no idea how simple or hard that would be to set up ... but then again as my programmer friend likes to point out, us non-programmers think you guys can do anything!

4) I think that there will be endless discussions and arguments about whether individual pictures belong in the 'fun' or 'useful' category. But in a sense, aren't we having that already with people arguing whether or not certain photos belong in the database? I think the discussion is good. I find the 'arguments' to be more civil and mature here at BGG than any other web community in which I've participated.

Just some thoughts.

Hmm, does "Convention pix" cover the extraneous "geek babe" photos? Otherwise maybe we need a "Geek Babes 'N Hunks" area too?

I think I submitted what might be the only relevant cat gaming photo -- one of my cat on my lap while I played Chez Geek. According to the rules in Chez Geek, cats in your hand show up in your room automatically! And you can't get rid of them. Look it up, it's in the rulz man.

So I'm working on setting up this pic of a photo-shopped Derk at a convention, battling women with glistening cleavage by throwing various meeples at them. However, there are kids & babies flanking him and trying to get him to stumble over game boxes of Busen Memo full of cats. Did I mention the skid-marked skivvies?
And NOW you tell me that it probably won't get green-lighted? It was gonna be the most geek-listed pic evar!!
