I'm sure that I'm missing it in the rules, so I'll just ask:

Do large monsters have to jump completely over pits (I refer to 1 space pits in this instance)? or can 1/2 of the 4 spacers stay on one? or can even a 6 spacer that can span one just use 3 movement to get it's front across?

I'm just curious, as I know large monsters movement is much more restricted in general (as they cannot use stairs, and rubble restricts them). I have the feeling they have to clear the pits like anyone else, but I'd like to see what more experienced players of Descent have to say.

Well, on page 16 in the rulebook (in the paragraph Props - Obstacles - Pits) it is written:
Quote:
... if hero or monster moves so that the figure is only occupying pit spaces, the figure falls into the pit.

So I assume that otherwise it doesn't.

That's good to know. I erred on the side of the couldn't in our first play last night. Otherwise, I'd have wiped the floor with the heroes.

On a side note:

We had 1 OL and 2 heroes, and the game was quite challenging for them. If the OL gets a couple Powers cards out quickly, and plays the other cards right, the heroes almost don't stand a chance (even in scenario 1). I hadn't even read the errata about the OL starting qith cards....so I started with none and still won.

I could see how 4 heroes might be able to get a slight advantage, or if you play the game as a campaign, the heroes get too strong; but even then, you could tweak the monsters a bit, or the costs of equipment a bit to balance things out quite easily IMHO (an opinion is all it is).
