A four investigators 3-p game, we pitched Wendy Adams, Daisy Walker, Luke Robinson and Rex Murphy against Yibb-Tstll, with Ghroth as Herald, and Bast as Guardian. Ghroth means that the Doom Track begins with two tokens, so it's going to be a tough one.

Things started OK. Wendy used her initial Elder Sign to seal The Unnamable, Luke closed another Gate, and Daisy went to Kingsport to keep the Rifts at bay. Rex begins the game cursed, so he needed to catch clues to close a Gate and dismiss the Curse card.

In no time we had three sealed locations, Rex was not cursed, and we had no rift tokens at Kingsport, thanks to a Mythos card that avoids the adding of new rift tokens.

It was all going so well, that it couldn't last. During several turns, only tough monsters entered game: two Starspawn of Cthulhu, one Gug, one Crawling one, two Moon Beasts and one Formless Spawn. An unlucky encounter at Kingsport made the Crawling one enter the location were Daisy was, and she failed to sneak past it, maddening in the process.

Yibb-Tstll makes harder to avoid monsters (you need two successes), so only Wendy managed to roam freely. So freely in fact, that she got the Comissioner cards with two Gate trophies.
Yes, that's right, the homeless girl is now the Comissioner. No wonder things are so twisted in Arkham.

To make a long story short, those monsters pinned the rest of the investigators. Wendy managed to seal a fourth location, and Luke was on his way to pass through another Gate to seal a fifth, but then the GOO awoke, due to the Doom Track getting to 11. Since only one clue token was left on the board, we tried to win through Epic Battle, but all four investigators were devoured by the fifth turn, with only three tokens taken off the Doom Track.

Kingsport should be the easiest board, but we were very unlucky with the monsters that appeared. Only Luke managed to destroy a Formless Spawn, with a powerful spell, but the of rest of times we simply tried to sneak, and most of the time failed miserably.

We should have used Bast to get her favour and avoid the monsters going for us, but we had to use the money at the Asylum and the Hospital, and only Wendy managed to feed the stray cats and get the goddess' favour.

Anyway, this was my brother in law's first Arkham Horror game. After almost four hours, rules explanation included, he said that it seemed like only a couple of hours. It's the best tribute a game like this can get. It's so immersive, you don't even realize four hours have gone by.

Today I've also played with KH with nearly the same party, but against Atlach-Nacha with also Ghroth..and surely everyone was devoured in Epic Final Battle when GOO awoke because too many gates were open..I had no chances..great game=)
