As a final closer, I enticed Joey, Keith, Jim, Steven Maus and Steve Pouey into a game of Wolfgang Kramer's Take 6. It's been a long, LONG time since this one hit the table at the Bungalow and it was WAY overdue.

Sure, the game is chaotic, but I firmly believe a player does have some control over his fate. I like using the term 'hand management' to describe the task (or challenge) of properly managing the hand of cards you are dealt so as to achieve optimum results. I believe Take 6 does, indeed, present the player with the task of executing proper 'hand management' skills. No, you can't completely control your fate, but deciding upon which card to play in what round, based on the lay of the board, is an important skill in this game. A player who manages this properly will most assuredly beat a player playing randomly nearly every time (in spite of what Steven Maus says!).

OK ... so maybe I got lucky, but I'd prefer to believe that I was carefully managing my cards and playing the right card at the right time. I know I was sure thinking about each card play ... and it obviously paid off:

Finals: Greg 20, Joey 44, Jim 54, Steven M. 66, Keith 80, Steve P. 84

Ratings: Steve P. 8, Joey 7, Greg 7, Keith 6, Jim 4.5
