Had a question about this horrible combo.

*The Scholar's card "Alchemical Redirection" was used meaning all damage dealt to hero targets would be redirected to the The Scholar.

*Then later an environment card "Imbued Vitality" was played and now all ongoing and equipment cards now had an HP of 6 (making them a target).

*When playing with Citizen Dawn, a Citizen Hammer was played (which deals each hero target 3 fire damage).

Because the ongoing and equipment cards now had HP and they are hero targets, The Scholar was now faced with absorbing 18 damage (3 heroes, 3 ongoing/equipment cards)...which basically insta-gibbed him.

*****

Is this combo really for real?

Yeah...that's what happened. Ouch!

You really don't want to play Alchemical Redirection unless he also has Flesh to Iron - that helps a lot! Even then, pulling Imbued Vitality in that situation is a rough spot to be in for Scholar!

Yeah, it's counterproductive to play Alchemical Redirection unless he has at least one Flesh to Iron or the card that makes him invulnerable in play.

It is a risky card like many others, thus you must use it wisely (with a couple of DR that he has) and save a lot of damage...combine it with bloody knuckles from Mr. Fixer (another high risk/high gain gard) for extra benefit.

In any case, you can always discard it, since the Scholar always feeds his magic with cards
