After digging up those tunnels, we split up into three groups. As usual, Yvonne pushed for a game fo Time's Up and got three takers. Not surprisingly, Heidi and Derek piecked their favourite game and were joined by John in a couple of rounds of Roborally. Barb had been itching for a game of Cities & Knights of Catan, so the rest of us went over to the Island.
The third table hosted a game of Settlers Of Catan with Cities & Knights. Barb had been asking to play this game for a while now, and we finally obliged. Eric, Erin and Christian joined Barb in Catan to lead their - now more prosperous - settlers. Erin quickly built herself the Defender Of Catan army, which sent the barbarians back to the oceans every time. The barbarians stood no chance in Catan. Christian saw heavy droughts followed by awesome feasts. Unfortunately for his blue settlers, the feasts always seem to be attended by a robbers, who would walk away with half the harvest. The blue settlers languished hopelessly behind, despite building themselves some nice city upgrades. Eric and Barb both built up prosperous cities, and picked up some nice special powers. Eric managed to sneak ahead when he built the longest road in the island and developed some monopolies on resources. However, before his settlers could declare themselves the ultimate culture on the island, Erin's people pulled out a coup. The workers built an even longer road while the fickly trader switched allegiances to her side. Together with the medals of honour given to the Defenders Of Catan gave Erin enough prestige to win the game.

The usual rounds of laughter could be heard from the next room as Yvonne, Kathy, JeffB and Gina pulled out 40 names for Time's Up. I got to see a couple of shenanigans while grabbing drinks and everyone seemed to be having as much fun as ever. Yvonne's report later was that everyone should have been playing Time's Up. Gina paired up with Yvonne and Kathy had JeffB. Jeff and Kathy picked up an early lead that they would not relinquish. Gina and Yvonne made a big push for points in the 3rd round, but it wasn't quite enough.

On another table, robots were pushing each other around with instructions from Derek, Heidi and John. With only three players, Roborally went fairly fast, and they were able to get 2 games in while everyone else finished their game. I didn't get many details about the game. I did hear rumours that John was able to win one of the games in the first or second turn, thanks to his mechanical claw.
