Well, maybe, but I think the general populace would read that a slam on ALL boardgames.

That's how I'd read it, too. Very much a "boardgames are boring" message.


I think the strip is really about Jeremy and his relationship with his parents. He is a typical rebellious teenager, and he resents what he sees as his mom's contrived attempt to "bond" with him. Boardgames aren't so much the message as they are a battleground. To him, anything connected with his parents is automatically uncool.
