I see that Carcassonne: Die Steinmauer is available in an .rar file, and I wondered if anyone knew a way to open this file without having to download a new program to do so.

Anyone? Anyone?

You will need win.rar to extract these files. Not sure if it can be done w/o that program.

Hope that helps

I highly recommend 7-Zip which is 100% free.

http://7-zip.org

The 7-Zip format compresses quite better than standard Zip. I only mention this to avoid confusion. The 7-Zip files are those ending in *.7z, not *.zip. However, 7-Zip does regular Zip and also does RAR as well as decent bunch of other formats.

As a side tip, if you want to compress something using the 7-Zip format, you can choose to create an *.exe instead of *.7z for those friends who don't have or don't want to install 7-Zip. 7-Zip is also available for Linux.

I'll second Kurious' recommendation of 7 Zip, which will open RAR and just about any compression format you encounter.

Go with 7-Zip, it doesn't have that annoying nag screen WinRar has.

I just did:

#apt-get install rar

Your experience may vary wildly.

Let me know if you can't get it open and we can work something out.

Don't know how it compares to the others, though.
