Searched the forums but nothing came up as far as I know.

I'm looking for the top auction games that have as a sweet spot 3 players. In my opinion, RA would not be one of them. RA is amazing but not with 3- it's still good, but not in it's sweet spot, in my opinion. 4 make it.

Anyhow, what auction games are AMAZING with just 3 players?

Thanks!

I'll take Manhattan in a garbage bag. With Latin written on it that says "It's hard to give a shit these days"

I think For Sale is at its best with 3. There are less player skill issues, and there's few chances that someone will end up 'coasting' because the player on his left will overbid, or the players to his right are very risk averse.

High Society is filler, but I think it's better with 3 than with more.

Traumfabrik is extremely good for 3. Good enough that I will never pass up a game if there are only 3 players. Industria is best with 3 IMHO.

Wow, to me Ra is perfect with 3! That's where you can really look at each player's sun tokens left, and determine exactly what the options of each player are, and use all that information to figure out what your move should be.

With 4+, there's just too many variables in the other players turn, it becomes a lot more chaotic. Some people like chaos, but for me the cool thing about Ra is that I always feel like I can figure out exactly what my best move is...now, since I don't win all the time, clearly I actually can't work out my best move, but I feel like I can, and that's what I like about it!

Well, if you don't like RA with three I don't know what to tell you, because that is the shining beacon of three-player auction games.

The only auction games I've played that are better with three than with any other number of players are RA and Katzenjammer Blues. And the latter is not exactly an "amazing" game, although I do like it.

The only auction games that I think are "amazing" with three are RA, Goa, and Fresh Fish.

Others that I'm happy to play with three include High Society, Titicaca, Power Grid, Traumfabrik, Geschenkt, and Katzenjammer Blues.

Thanks for all the recomendations! I think I'm going to get Katzenjammer Blues- it's for my brother. We love RA. I just like it more with 4.
