I need some help here, as my French is terrible, as is Babelfish. But if I understand this correct, Ystari has a new game called 'Yspahan' planned for Essen 2006. (http://reixou.free.fr/parutions.php)

It's by Sébastien Pauchon (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/user/s.pauchon ?) and has already won the 24th Concours International des Créateurs de Jeux de Société (http://www.ludotheque.com/Concours/Concours2005/Palmares2005...) under the name 'CALIFES ET MARCHANDS'.

On Pauchon's website: http://www.pauchon.com/calife.html

Article: http://www.24heures.ch/vqhome/label_24/24_pratique/jeux_mult...

Familygame for ages 8 and up OR strategygame for ages 12 and up (So what is it? I read both); 60-90 minutes.

So, please tell me if I'm wrong or right with all of the above info, because I got everything in French .

Everything you have looks correct. According to the Swiss newspaper article, it seems like the title has not yet been decided, that the original one was "Caliphs and Merchants". I'm assuming that Ystari had it renamed to fit in its product line.

The prize that it won helped the prototype attract attention and eventually get published.

And you're right about the conflicting information. It seems like the newspaper article would be more correct, since they interview the designer, but who knows. The blurb that goes with the prize that it won says that it's halfway between a family game and a gamer's game.

Sweet, their first two games are great, so I can't wait to see their follow up to Caylus. On their site they hinted that a new game was on it's way, they had a black box on the site under Ys and Caylus, the picture is now up on their site:

http://www.ystari.com/eindex.php

The information is available in English, the game seems to be called Mykerinos now. There is more information on the French site. It describes the game as a discovery of the mysteries of Egypte and the author is Nicolas Oury.

However the information on the site you listed is totally different. It states a game by Sebastien Pauchon due in October?

The game on their site goes on to say that you are an archaeologist in Egypte in search of rare artifacts. And that the instructions as well as information on the characters will be up soon.

Mykerinos is their third game, to be released in the next couple months. Yspahan is a different game, to be released around this year's Essen.

I figured that out right after I posted! Man I am falling behind, less work, more gaming I think would be the solution. Now I have 2 Ystari games to look forward to this year! Thanks.

Actually Yspahan is an idea from the author.
