Playing this Reiner Knizia game with 5 people meant that the board was very crowded. The game was very close. The object is to place camels on the board together in a chain, connecting them to oases, pools, etc. to gain points. At the end of the game, points are awarded for the longest chain of a certain color, the number of oases connected to, the points gained from occupying pools, and for sealing in an area of the board with your camel caravan.

As mentioned, with 5 people, the board was very crowded. Only at the very end did we learn that with 5 people, each person removes a camel of a different colored caravan. As we played, each person chose a caravan color to make the longest, and at the end, each of us got 10 points for a longest caravan. For sealed in areas, Jim and Erin each got 11 points, with Lenny getting 5 and Willerd getting 4 (Don got 0). For pools/oases, Don got 46, Erin got 22, while Jim, Willerd & Lenny all got 42 each. As final results, Jim had 63 points, Lenny 57, Willerd & Don 56, and Erin 43. The game winning move was Jim's sealing an area of the board for 11 points. It was really a good game, close down to the last camel placed. We can only imagine how it would have been if we would have played by the correct rules and it was less crowded.

Ratings: Jim 7.5, Willerd 6, Erin 7, Lenny 7, and Don 8.5.
