I am using this as a placeholder to place the list summary as well as various instructions. More to come...

General Instructions

Once the inventory of all entries is posted, every user will be asked to send me a PM containing the submission list(s) for each of their trade entries. If you added four entries, I expect to see four separate lists. They may be sent in a single PM.

The format is straightforward. The first Entry ID of a submission list MUST be the assigned ID of the game you are trading. Every Entry ID following, separated by a space, represents the trade entries you are attempting to trade for.

For example, if there are five games you would like to received for Entry ID #80 for, you would send:

80 12 23 34 45 56

Requests/Hints/Comments...

(in relative order of importance)

1. All submissions are due Sunday, February 12, 10:00 PM (EST).

2. Cut and paste from the summary list at all times, and double check your submission lists before you send them. Fat-fingering something could easily result in you receiving something you didn't want or missing out on a trade altogther.

3. If you are not willing to trade your item(s) for anything on the list, please send me a PM stating this.

4. If you are concerned about receiving two copies of the same game, you can prevent this from happening by doing one of these two things. Using Cosmic Encounter as an example, you can pick a desired edition of CE and add it to every one of your submission lists, or you can single out one of your submissions lists and add every instance of Cosmic Encounter.

5. Be aware of any shipping restrictions when making your selections. We have only one trader from outside the US or Canada, so we should have relatively few hiccups with intercontinental trades. Important: The default rule for international trades requires the buyer to be compensated for the extra shipping costs. This is only overruled if stated in the trade entry. Also, there are a handful of traders that will not ship to specific destinations or required additional money. For example, there are at least two US users shipping significantly heavy games asking for additional funds. Please pay attention!

6. Do not get hung up prioritizing your submissions lists. Ask yourself this simple question? "Am I willing to trade [my games] for [this game]?" If the answer is yes, add it to the submission list? If not, move on. Satisfaction rating will not matter here.

And here is the list:

That international trader would be me - and as I'm presenting a big lot I do need some compensation for sending: €10. On the other hand I expect to use all of that to pay the person I get a game from so I won't keep any of it.

Are you sure #115 is correct: in the original list it says St. Petersburg. Here you've got St Petersburg and Louis XIV....not sure which is right.

thanks,

Another major edit -

#44 includes Ys+ (THE EXPANSION ONLY), not the base game Ys and Diamanten Joe (THE EXPANSION ONLY), not the base game Niagara.

Lot #115 is correct. It was a last minute addition. The other summaries were fixed.

Satisfaction rating will not matter here.

That's not entirely correct (as mentioned on the GeekList). The satisfaction rating is not used directly by TradeGenie, but the prioritized wants are used. In fact, with TradeGenie it makes more sense to put your wants in order than with any other available algorithm.

Maybe an future release of TradeGenie will incorporate a satisfaction rating, but it may or may not be the same style used my Matt's trade tool.

Assuming an exhaustive search is done, why would prioritizing make a difference? And if a exhaustive search is not completed, how much impact does prioritizing have?

Ah! I believe what they are referring to is that fact that an exhaustive search isn't completed

That's pretty much it. If your game is, say, the most wanted game on everyone's list, you're (virtually) guaranteed to get your 1st want, since there will never be time to check your other wants.

On the other hand, if your game is only wanted by one or two people, it's far more likely that all of your wants will be checked, but still in order of priority, giving you the highest priority possible without suffering a lower trade count.

(On the third hand, if your game is only wanted by one entry, and that one entry is the most-wanted entry, you'll probably get your 1st pick also. It's complicated and beyond the scope of this forum. If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll set up a forum topic for how TradeGenie works. I've alread hijacked this one enough.)

Edit: After a couple requests, the forum topic is here:

Re: Valentine's Day Math Trade List (Summary Posted)
A personal question to others who do Math trade lists:

Do sweeteners work?

I mean, my inclination was to trade a specific game, or a set of games. But I see people add a lot of sweeteners. Perhaps one of these math trades I should do that. I just do not know what people would want as a set, and I would not just want to add a whole lot of less interesting stuff that people do not want.

So in your opinion, do they add to the number of people to select your item?

Yes, they work. They work when there are duplicates of a game and you want yours to stand out. They work when your game is of marginal interest (they will get some people that would have passed on your game to give it a try).

But they only work if they enhance the trade. A sweetner of a deck of poker cards would not enhance a trade, but a copy of Settlers of Catan: The Card Game would enhance the trade for many (not all).

Re: Valentine's Day Math Trade List (Summary Posted)
If I have four games for trade with differing values, then a game might be worth it for the two cheaper games, but a sweetener might make it worthwhile for three of the games.

A previous large trade (with 153 entries) had 109 entries that were tradable after the initial winnowing. I believe that the highest number of trades that has been generated from that data set was 57 until now. I found a way to get TradeGenie to find 67 trades for that data set in a couple minutes on a laptop. A bit more crunching got it up to 68. I'm testing to see if the vast amounts of computational power available to me can do better in a small amount of time. I think that setting a new record for number of trades is quite plausible.

Not having participated in one of these before, I can only say that sweeteners definitely contributed to the choices I made. So even if the sweetener I offered didn't directly interest, I added it in hopes that getting something more _might_ make a difference for someone.

We are getting there! The TradeGenie has been running (at home) since last night. When I return from work, I am going to stop it and verify the trades against the submission lists. Results will be posted tomorrow morning.

When I left for work this morning, the app was showing 108 trades in (I believe) nine chains.

Given the recent additions to the deadbeat list, I would like to propose that once trades are accepted, that everyone check the addresses of the person you are sending a game to. If that address is on the list then please notify us immediately.
