The new edition of Troia (Troy) has apparently been produced as a promotional item by DaimlerChrysler, whose German executive includes a relative of Schliemann. This is an odd game, combining several different elements. The aim is to score points by piecing together sections of the plans of several different layers of the Troy excavation. Play is controlled by limiting players' actions through numbered cards: either dig up more pieces or 'exhibit' what you've got. Pieces are taken face-down from the pile as long as they're not covered by another piece - usually of a later stratum. Then you have to work out where the piece fits - not too difficult - and whether you have pieces that fit together (for the possibility of a higher score). Nice production, interesting game, but fairly lightweight.
