[center][center]GAME LOG : May 19th, 2013
Number of Players : 3
Game Length : 7.5 Hours
Winner : Paul
End Card: Hand Of Doom

Expectations were high that this would be a game of epic proportions. Let’s go over a few of the reasons why:

1. The inclusion of the recently won rare promo only cards ‘Doppelganger’ and ‘Instructor’
2. The inclusion of 6 new characters from The Dragon expansion
3. The inclusion of the 2nd edition Timescape expansion in all it’s glory
4. It was raining. Everyone knows you have the best games on rainy days

Was it epic? Well, if by epic you mean the longest game ever then, yes, epic it was. No one minded though since there was food and drink a-plenty, although, mention was made of the lack of Holy Grail Ale but we’ll say no more about that......‘tis a silly beer. It was a slow paced game all the way through, the cards were not presenting many opportunities and 3 hours in no one had even managed to gain 1 additional attribute - unheard of! However, there were some successes...

Adam:
Being presented with 5 of the best characters to choose from, he opted for the never before played Conjurer sure that he could use it’s special abilities to the max. Unfortunately all he was able to conjure up over an 7.5 hour period was 1 extra Craft and 3 extra Strength. Obsessed with finding a way into the Timescape and showing his fellow gamers the joys and rewards this new (old) expansion would bring, he headed there via the ‘Enchantress’. Paul and Shawn were indeed both very impressed with the way he was forced to leave his mule and extra objects behind before becoming imprisoned for six rounds arriving back in the crags with just a (soon to be damaged) battle droid follower to show for his hour in the Timescape. Perhaps it should be renamed Timewaste...

Shawn:
Choosing between the Grave Robber and the Bounty Hunter was a tough choice and the Bounty Hunter won out. Early on in the game it looked like the Hunter was becoming the Hunted and Shawn had but one life to his name. Lucky for him he had the ‘Genie’ follower carrying the ‘Life Tap’ spell and he cast it on Adam stealing one of his lives. He was back in the game! Shawn also got to experience both of the new promo cards - he defeated the ‘Doppleganger’ first go but was never rich enough to take advantage of the ‘Instructor’. Shawn made full use of his character’s special abilities. He started powering up, gained a Talisman and was able to find himself entering the Inner Region at the end of the game. He was going to be first on the Crown of Command - and was just one space away from victory when - Zap - Adam cast an Acquisition spell and stole his Talisman! Now that’s cruel...

Paul:
Despite no one really understanding exactly how the Tinkerer worked, that was Paul’s choice and in hindsight a very wise decision! After initially going into the City with no money and realizing what a pointless venture that is (didn’t he learn from the last game where Adam did just that?!) Paul’s second trip with some nice cashed in bounties left him looking like a Rockefeller. He had almost 20 gold going in! Since his special ability of turning objects into automated followers meant he had no need to worry about carrying limits, he shopped like it was 1999. Potions, pets, armor, spells, weapons....you name it he bought it and once he bought it - he used it. With two Talismans in his pocket, he was only one move behind Shawn in the inner region so when Shawn turned around that was it. All that mattered now was stepping onto the Crown of Command and facing the End Boss. But someone had different ideas...

Unbeknownst to Paul, Shawn had been hanging on to the infamous ‘misfortune’ spell just waiting for the perfect moment to strike. When Paul turned over the HAND OF DOOM, Shawn cast! This would force roll a ‘1’ for Paul and have us ALL killed with no winner at all! (and after 7.5 hours that’s REALLY cruel...)

Unbeknownst to Shawn, Paul had been hanging on to the infamous ‘Counterspell” knowing that one of his opponents would try and strike him down with all their might, so the ‘misfortune’ was recast back onto Shawn and Paul was free to roll his die as the fates would have it.

The fates rolled a 1. All were sentenced to death.
But Fate wasn’t done yet.
Indeed, Adam recommended using a Fate token to re-roll which Paul readily did.
Paul rolled a 6 and cast his comrades into the Gorge of Eternal Peril!!

On their way down, Adam and Shawn tried to throw things at Paul in the hope they might hit him in the eye but it didn’t help.
Paul was crowned Champion Of The Land!

Come on - it's not that bad! I always say, yes it stuck out like a sore thumb but i loved it all the same. Must be the nostalgic in me. Having said that, if you read the game log, you will see that it was indeed a most yuck experience!

Omnipotent Being was fun as well as the Symbiote & Warp Belt. Oh the Anti-Grav Platform was cool too. Loved the Astropath Character. The whole Timescape theme sucked with a fantasy game. Good job FFG turned it into a different game with Relic.
