Has anyone noticed that some of the traits (Cave, Cursed) have an immense number of monsters, while some (Water, Cold, Civilized) have next to nothing? I've counted out all the traits (thanks to the Descent 2nd Ed. wiki), and here's the results:

Building: 6 (1 from 2nd edition)
Cave: 17 (5 from 2nd edition)
Civilized: 4 (1 from 2nd edition)
Cold: 3 (1 from 2nd edition)
Cursed: 10 (2 from 2nd edition)
Dark: 8 (2 from 2nd edition)
Hot: 6 (2 from 2nd edition)
Mountain: 6 (2 from 2nd edition)
Water: 3 (1 from 2nd edition)
Wilderness: 7 (3 from 2nd edition)

And from the upcoming expansions (Labyrinth of Ruin and Trollfens), it doesn't look like we're getting many monsters to fill up the low traits.

It'd be nice if they did a water-themed expansion, with water-based monsters like krakens, sirens, mermen, serpents, hydras, sea hags, etc.

Yeah. It seems like the Traits were mostly made thematically, so some groups are underrepresented. Most monsters live in caves, I guess.

Carrion Drakes: As bottomfeeding scavengers, the carrion drakes subsist upon disease and decay. Often found near bodies of water and holding a tendency towards nocturnal activity, one finds these vile creatures more than willing to adjust habits when there’s something to devour nearby, even if there’s a fair amount life remaining to the poor soul...

I am hoping this adds to the water category

Also the Trollfens being a swamp expansion might see one or both of those monsters have water in their traits.

Maybe not most, but most of 1st edition took place in caves of some sort, so it's not surprising to see it prevalent.
