Hello again!

I've been very carefully pruning my collection and as such have come up with a rather long "For Trade" list. The problem is, I don't know what to add to my "Want In Trade" list to make my pruning worthwhile.

I have come to the realisation that my attention span is not long enough for a game over 90 minutes.

For everybody in my main group (that's me, Mum and my friend Nadia) our sweet spot is 45 minutes. Maybe a little longer if it includes learning rules, maybe a little shorter if there is no table talk.

My favourite games are: Alien Frontiers, Android Netrunner, Citadels, Memoir 44, plus a few more...
Mum enjoys games where you have "secret missions" and that you "feel like you are having a turn", which may translate to getting to "do stuff" and rolling dice. She likes Pastiche, Dice Town and some others...
Nadia's favourite game is without a doubt Ticket To Ride. If given the choice this is what she picks. She's happy to play other games just as long as we get in a good few games of TTR a month.

Can you suggest some games which I could add to my "Want In Trade" list.
Maybe you'd like to look at what is on my "For Trade" list and suggest something in exchange for it?

Limitations mainly in the form of theme: no high fantasy, prefer games based in real world or in space.
All mechanics OK except auctions.
High quality components (and artwork) essential.
Support (or workable variants) for solo play appreciated.

This may be way off-base, and I'm not sure how long it takes, but Nexus Ops is in space, can do 2 or 3 players, and has secret missions. Maybe it's worth investigating?

What about:

7 Wonders
TransAmerica
Carcassonne
Eminent Domain
Stone Age

They are all great, quick playing, light to medium weight, and really fun.

Metropolys is about the right time point IIRC, has secret goals, and nice bits.

Two more I remember as good with 3, and about 45 minutes

Finca set collection, rondel, pretty pieces (fruit) and
Auf Achse (pick up and deliver, objectives aren't secret, but they are differentiated (you bid for contracts)). Depending on what she likes about T2R (routes, maps, bits), this might appeal to your friend. Don't know if it violates the auction rule. Since the bids are set and you opt in or out, it might be less of an issue.

Here are a baker's dozen of my favourite games out of my collection that I think might fit your various criteria:

Evo... dinosaur survival game ... first version is better
Riff Raff ... a neat dexterity game you would like
Ascending Empires ... a space themed game great for 2 - 4
Las Vegas ... a neat dice betting game
Balloon Cup ... one of the best 2 player games out there
Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation ... excellent 2 player game ... quick and fun
Divinare ... divine the winning combination ...great for 3
Yspahan ... if you like Alien Frontiers you'll love this
Roll to the South Pole... a race best with three to the South Pole
Tonga Bonga ... very good island racing game
Manila ... river boats with pirates thrown in .. excellent
Love Letter ... if you like Citadels you'll love this shorty
Fauna ... do you know your animal species ... neat game.

I've given you a short description of each. All are under your 90 minutes criteria, some much shorter. All great fun.

Biblios. Just a great game. Fast, but with plenty of decisions to make. Quick to learn too.

Ghost Stories. I'm not sure if this would break your thematic barrier, but it's a blast to play solo, or up to 4. It's really hard to win, but not hard to understand, and I've never enjoyed losing a game more.

Nefarious. This is, sadly, out of print, but it's worth hunting down. It can be found for a reasonable price often on the marketplace or Amazon. I think this would be a perfect fit for what you're describing, and is my top choice based on your descriptors.

I would have also definitely suggested LoW, but he said that he wanted to avoid fantasy themed games. It's a great game.

Some others that may work (for a variety of reasons) are:

Race for the Galaxy
Escape: The Curse of the Temple (this is a great, frantic 10 min co-op!)
Masons
Pergamon
Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age

There are more I want to recommend, but they are over the 45 min limit.

You can take a look at:

- Hanabi (cooperative card game)
- Augustus (a kind of bingo with tactical choices)
- Tea Time (set collection)
- Sobek (nice card game)
- 7 Wonders (nice card game too)
- Taluva (abstract strategy game)
- Samurai (abstract strategy game)

More then 45 minutes (60-90 minutes):
- Saint Malo (light dice-rolling strategy game)
- Alea Iacta Est (light dice-rolling strategy game)
- Glen More (tile placement)

Pirate's Cove (minimum of 3 players). Offers pirate fun in around 45 once you know how to play.

Escape... Curse of the Temple. Offers lots of dice rolling fun in just 10 minutes!

You could try Finca and The Hanging Gardens. If you want solitaire and playing 3 under 45 minutes I believe only Walnut Grove which is oop could fit. If you can throw the time limit out The Castles of Burgundy is my pick.

Ingenious also fits your player and time restrictions but is themeless.

The castles of Burgundy too long?
Neuroshima hex?

Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game and Sentinels of the Multiverse both fulfill all your requirements, as they support solo play, scales well up to 5 players, are set in a "real worldish and sci fi" setting, and can be done in 45 minutes,
