I can't find a definitive reference to this anywhere? Are these starting items for these characters?

If a character has, for example, an auto pistol symbol on his card and you have an auto pistol equipment card you may get some extra bonus. You then have to look at the top right corner of your equipment card. If your equipment card also has the same symbol you get the bonus. For weapons it is usually a +1 to hit.

It just represents the fact that this character is better trained with some weapons or items.

Don't forget that you ignore strength and intellect requirements for these cards too. This is a really useful benefit.

Hmm, thanks.

Another question: the honor symbol with text lower left side of challenge cards serves what purpose?

Usually used when you amaze a guardian challenge. On the amaze line you will see some black circles with gold numbers inside. If your honor is less more than or equal to that number you draw another challenge card. Read the text next to the honor symbol and do whatever it says.

If there is more than one gold number on the guardian challenge card and your honor is equal to or higher than all of them you can draw multiple challenge cards and get the honor benefit of each.

Should read "more than or equal"

Then all the cards with numbers in black white or colored boxes down at the bottom, what means that?

Never mind, got that. The # symbol in the square threw me off. I couldn't find a # symbol on the bottom of the card.
Common/secret/elite.

Now, what about the stealth symbol and the + and the two gears, or whatever it is, right there with the numbers on some cards. A simple table with these symbols and card layout would have been handy.

I hate programmed instruction.

Page 18 of the Basic Rulebook:

Quote:
Card Bonuses
Characters gain treasure bonuses, as shown by Bonus
symbols. If a symbol on a character matches that on a card:
He ignores the card’s Strength and Intellect requirements.
He gains the bonus as described in the Bonus box on the
card. (Other text on a card is not part of the Bonus.)
The back of the rulebook as a list of card bonus Symbols

Think I have it now. That certainly could have been laid out more clearly.

Thanks.

Private Sanchez has a 1 next to the black on white sniper icon. What does the 1 stand for?
Sanchez starts with 1 Common card.

Check out the Master Compendium Page 11 for the details.
