I thought that this win against Keldon's AI (3p, BoW, Goals+Takeovers) was notable. Especially for my unusual tableau. I believe the only actions I called during the game were "Develop" and a few "Explores" for Prestige.

This type of scenario has been seen before, specifically with the human player pulling off a development-heavy strategy (almost always starting with Galactic Developers).

Either it's a situation that the AI is simply unprepared for and unable to handle properly; or it's recognising that it's on track for defeat and its only chance of catching up is to make some unorthodox and risky "Hail Mary" choices to try to pull off a highly improbable sequence of events; or perhaps a little bit of both.

You still have a world... you should've let it get TO-ed, or started off with Doomed World instead laugh

That aside, yeah, when you have the II engine going, that's the way to do it. Despite the AI making some very questionable end game moves, one thing it does do right is if it's ahead in score, it sprints for the game's end, including when it has a II engine going.

From what I can see, the A.I. cannot employ this strategy. The neural network only looks at expected score, and not variance. In simpler terms, it always "plays safe", regardless whether it is winning or losing.

I just believe this happens because the dev strategy is extremely strong when set up correctly (mostly by luck). There's just nothing that can stop you, and you give very little help to your opponents (except they don't need to guess your phases ;-)).

I tried, I tried... ...Green has Interstellar Cassus Belli, but couldn't use it. Maybe if my start world had been New Sparta...

But even Doomed World can only be traded with..another world.

My interested was piqued at how rarely the AI called "Settle". The opposing tableaus are also quite development heavy.
