Hi,

I am looking for a couple of recommendations for some boards games as a present.
The person I am buying for currently enjoys strategic games, co-op games, area control game and the hidden identity element.

A couple of the games he plays quite often are; Resistance, Shadow Hunters, Ghost stories (I'm getting the white moon expansion for him already), Tobago (successful Christmas present - thank you ), Hanabi, Confusion, Flash Point (but not so much anymore), Survive (& expansions), and Revolution.

I thought Smash up might be a good one to get.

He has stated that he wouldn't like Pandemic as we have Flash Point, and doesn't like the sound of Shadows over Camelot. He has already backed Coup on Kickstarter.

Thank you very much in advanced.

Kututo.

How about Discworld: Ankh-Morpork? It's an area control game with hidden identities and goals.

Thank you for the recommendations so far, they all look really good.

We currently own both Battlestar Galatica and Cosmic Encounters, although we haven't got round to playing them yet.

Another recommendation: Keyflower

It isn't area control and no hidden identities, but hidden information and fighting for control is part of the game, so it is there in a slightly different way.

Small World would be a good option. It quite strategic with Area Control mechanics and who doesn't like some variable player powers added in. It can work as a co-op by two players ganging up on other players hahaha....

I've enjoyed playing Seasons lately but not sure where that would fit with you its just a cool game.

+1 Waterdeep

I hear Cyclades is good but haven't played it yet.

He might like Love Letter

Also maybe Forbidden Desert which is an interesting and affordable co-op

Test
Check out Tammany Hall for an area control game with very high quality components.

Which is also easy to learn, has a great theme, and is solid fun.
