Hi all BGG's,

So we are going on vacation soon and i i would LOVE to bring some BG's along to cover those nighttime lulls that i would suggest a BG anyway. So the in laws are a typical pair, the most gaming they have sone in the last few months was Carcassonne. They seemed to like playing it.

So i dont require to play these games on the road, but rather at the hotel or room when the kids go down, and the scotch comes out...more or less.

Please check out my collection...

Suggestions?
Thank you!

I would think Ticket to ride and TTR/USA:1910 would be a good fit,
often described as a gateway game I have found it easy to explain the rules and simple enough to be social over ie: Drinks and conversation. And if you can be loud King of Tokyo is fun.
Jaipur is my favourite game at the moment although it is only for two, it is an easy one to pickup and learn.
Even slamwich is a good quick filler, my kids taught their Nana and she asks for it in between other games.

I'd go for:

Pandemic
Carcassonne
Lost Cities

I've had success with Alhambra as a travel game in the past.
We only took the cards and chits.

Hobby aquariums are just like board games: except wet, fishy, and you can't play them.

Can I suggest the game: Revolution!

It is so easy to learn and set up, my gaming challenged extended family really enjoy playing this one. Its pretty fun too.

Since it is a 2p game it does not look like a good fit for the situation to me...

From your collection Hanabi might be a good idea allthough it is hard to predict who likes it and who doesn't IMHO.

I thought of 7 Wonders immediately (with all expansions, sure). Then I checked your owned games list and voila, there it was. Problem solved.

I'll second Hanabi as an excellent filler and to provide some cooperative variety.

If your in-laws are comfortable with Carcassonne, Hanabi's simple rules won't represent much of an obstacle.

Might be alittle big for many hotel room tables though...

Qwixx - I've been playing this a ton with my in-laws this week traveling around Guatemala. They've loved it. We've played it in hotel rooms, restaurants, poolside, and bus stations. Plus it was almost free. I printed and laminated the score sheets, colored a D6 green (the one color I didn't have), and bought some dry-erase markers and carried it in my little travel bag. When we had 10 minutes, we busted it out.

Great traveling game. Highly recommended.

Hanabi +1

An alternative to Ticket to Ride is TransAmerica. Simpler rules, but more interesting gameplay. A perfect game for inexperienced gamers in my opinion.

If you want to have conversations while playing, then it has to be Carcassonne.
