"Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. is an upcoming turn-based strategy game for the Nintendo 3DS handheld video game console. The game is developed by Intelligent Systems, and will be published by Nintendo.
The game is played as a turn-based strategy game, with elements of a third person shooter.
Unlike in Fire Emblem, another of Intelligent Systems' strategy game series, which incorporates permadeath, players can revive their characters in S.T.E.A.M. by using medals.
In addition to being developed by Intelligent Systems, Shigeru Miyamoto of Mario and The Legend of Zelda, and Hitoshi Yamagami of Xenoblade Chronicles, Fire Emblem and Pokémon, will be involved in the game's creation. The game's art style will be heavily influenced by the silver age of comic books, such as the work by Jack Kirby, as well as by the more recent comic creator Bruce Timm. The designs for the enemy alien characters are heavily influenced by the works of H. P. Lovecraft."
