User summary:
A puzzle-oriented platform game. The player controls Kinopio ("Toad"), who must walk around on a small 3D stage in search of a power star. The stages are small and fully rotatable, viewable from any angle.
This was originally a mini game in Super Mario 3D World for the WiiU. The game in question is merely a collection of 70+ stages of this type, bound together by a story that essentially is just there for the show. Some bonus stages are unlocked if the game finds a save data for Super Mario 3D world.
The power star on each stage is typically clearly visible, but Kinopio can't jump, so the major challenge to figure out how to reach the power star. Each stage also contains 3 hidden diamonds; these play the role of the power stars in Mario 64, in that that certain stages requires a certain number of diamonds in order to be unlocked. Each stage also contains a special "achievement", the requirements of which are revealed the first time the stage is cleared ("Clear the stage without taking damage", "Collect 70 coins", "Find the hidden mushroom"). Completing this achievement and taking the three diamonds causes the stage to get a "done" stamp, and when all stages in a batch (typically 18 stages in a batch) are "done", each stage in the batch can be time-challenged.
