Sly Spy

User Summary

Sly Spy is a James Bond-esque action title created by Data East. Although the game debuted in arcades, it was eventually ported to a number of different consoles.

The player takes the role of a secret agent by the name of Sly Spy as he treks through nine distinct levels combating terrorists and saving the world from a nuclear disaster. There are several distinct gameplay styles integrated into the game, with many stages having unique mechanics. Most of the levels have Sly Spy fighting on foot, although there are stages that include a motorcycle chase, aerial combat while skydiving, and underwater combat.

Sly Spy’s primary weapon is his pistol. If he runs out of ammo, however, he will drop the weapon and resort to melee combat. Players can perform three physical attacks while weaponless. In addition, pieces to the Golden Gun are scattered throughout the levels, and if the player can collect them all they receive a powerful Golden Gun rifle that incapacitates most enemies in a single shot.

The game is heavily influenced by James Bond movies, and includes a number of references. Two of the stages have Jaws and Odd Job as their bosses, and the final stage is the moonbase from the Moonraker film.
