The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Empire of Tamriel is on the edge. The High King of Skyrim has been murdered.

Alliances form as claims to the throne are made. In the midst of this conflict, a far more dangerous, ancient evil is awakened. Dragons, long lost to the passages of the Elder Scrolls, have returned to Tamriel. The future of Skyrim, even the Empire itself, hangs in the balance as they wait for the prophesized Dragonborn to come; a hero born with the power of The Voice, and the only one who can stand amongst the dragons.

Skyrim is a fantasy role-playing game by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. Skyrim is the fifth installment in The Elder Scrolls series, and is a sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
The game takes place in the Nordic land of Skyrim, on the fictional continent of Tamriel, about 200 years after the events of Oblivion. At the time of the game, the King of Skyrim has died, provoking civil war amongst the native Nord race. The war is the last in a sequence of events (depicted in each of the previous games in the series) that fulfill a prophecy foretold by the Elder Scrolls; the Nordic god Alduin arises to destroy the world.

Skyrim uses a new, internally developed engine, rather than the Gamebryo engine used for the previous two installments in the series.

• During the quest Diplomatic Immunity, the player can don Thalmor armor and walk around. Almters will not be suspected. All other races will raises suspicion.
• If the Dragonborn does not interfere in the war, it is likley the Stormcloaks loose to the Imperials. Ulfric had already been captured once at the start of the game and if he dies the Stormcloaks are done, unlike if the Imperials were to loose Elisif. To win the War the Stormcloaks would need to reach Solitude by crossing Dragonbridge (the only way over the Carth River and a major choke-point) and then conquer Fort Hraggstad (otherwise the legion stationed there would attack them from behind). The Stormcloaks would then need to siege Solitude by storming the frontgate (another choke-point and something that was rarely successful in real-life) or wait until someone surrenders (the Imperial Capital can afford to wait / Ulfric cannot). The Imperials control most of the farmland in Skyrim, and Ulfric's siege is happening in the fall (current in-game season), a time when most people will have food stored. Imperial reinforcements from Markarth or even High Rock are likley to be on their way by this point, and most of the Imperial forces seen in Skyrim are people who have been recruited locally. There is an actual veteran legion force at Bruma waiting to cross into Skyrim when the Jerall mountain pass clears. And regardless of the outcome - the Thalmor win either way.
  • There are several creative ways the Stormcloaks could, with some work and luck, win Skyrim. However, Ulfric is too straightforward in his approach to consider theses in-game.
