LEGO Rock Band takes the original Rock Band games and put them into the LEGO universe with a loose storyline like Telltale's other LEGO series games. Players perform songs to earn LEGO studs which act like money where you can purchase items to decorate your Rock Den and customize your LEGO minifig characters.

The gameplay works like the Rock Band series games where you use guitar controllers, drum controllers, and microphones to match the notes that appear on screen. There are 45 songs in the game. Using the code provided in the instruction book, the songs can be exported to your console's hard drive and added to your Rock Band collection to be played in other Rock Band games (and other family-friendly songs you already have will work in LEGO Rock Band). Added to the gameplay are Rock Challenges which places your LEGO band in a situation to solve with the power of rock and the graphics and presentation switch off instruments while performing. It also adds a Super Easy difficulty level.
