Unlicensed items may be submitted for inclusion to the database, but must meet the following:

• Images for unlicensed items are allowed and must follow the VGG Image Policy.
• Associate with the Franchise "(Unlicensed Games)" (where these instructions can also be found)

What is Unlicensed?

An unlicensed or unofficial game normally refers to a game that uses the characters, animation, and world of another game, series, or franchise without proper licensing.

This also includes:

• Fan-Made: A game created by a dedicated fan.
• Hacks: This typically refers to a significantly altered game that someone created using an official title as a "base".

This does not include:

• Pirated games: Games reproduced and/or sold illegally.

Why Allow Images For Unlicensed Games?

1) They are often readily available online and typically at no cost.

1) Titles that infringe on the intellectual property others are usually sold on a physical media and tend to be common on eBay or other sites. Many collectors of these releases exists.
