"The Xbox 360 is the second video game console produced by Microsoft, and the successor to the Xbox. The Xbox 360 competes with Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles.

Some major features of the Xbox 360 are its integrated Xbox Live service that allows players to compete online, download arcade games, game demos, trailers, TV shows and movies and its Windows Media Center multimedia capabilities. The Xbox 360 also offers region specific access to third-party media streaming services such as Netflix in the USA or Sky TV and BT Vision in the UK.

The Xbox 360 was officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005, with detailed launch and game information divulged later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The console sold out completely upon release in all regions except in Japan, and, as of January 2010, there are over 39 million Xbox 360 consoles worldwide."

Region Locking:
Xbox 360 consoles are region locked, however it is up to the game publisher to enable region locking in their software. Many games released for the 360 are region free, or are playable in two regions. One database of region compatibility for Xbox 360 software can be found at play-asia.com

Xbox Live Arcade games are region locked and can only be played on consoles sold in the region associated with the purchaser's Xbox Live account.

DVD playback is region locked according to DVD video specifications.

• Xbox uses DRM that may prevent games from being played when the Xbox Network shuts down. In 2022, Xbox DRM caused an outage that prevented games (single player & Online/physical & digital) from being played for several days.
