Warhorse Studios is an independent developer founded by Dan Vávra and Martin Klíma in 2011 and located in Prague, Czech Republic. They wanted their first game to have a medieval setting and for it to be painstakingly historically accurate. The game was almost completely built (a rare thing) when they pitched it to publishers, but Warhorse was repeatedly turned away. Publishers had no interest unless it contained magic, dragons, or was a free-to-play MMO. An independent investor took an interest and offered to fund it himself if they could prove that consumers where interested. Warhorse started a KickStarter with a goal 300,000 and it ended with almost 2,000,000, making it one of the top fifteen most funded KickStarters ever.

Warhorse Studios has its own brand of beer in four different varieties (India Pale Ale, Pale Lager, XXL Lager, Stout Imperial) that can be purchased from their website.
