Sets out a vision of an ideal society with nearly perfect qualities for its citizens. Oftentimes the inherently contradictory nature of the Utopia and the desires of its people conflict, and therefore cannot simultaneously be satisfied. |

Dystopian Fiction |
Sets out an unsavory vision of society. Mass poverty, public mistrust and suspicion, a police state or oppression are often featured. At least one reason why things are that way is explored, often as an analogy for similar issues in the real world. |

Deals with climate change and the effects of global warming in the past, present, or future. |

Space Opera |
Emphasizes space warfare, melodramatic adventure, interplanetary battles, chivalric romance, and risk-taking. Set mainly or entirely in outer space, it usually involves conflict between opponents possessing advanced abilities, futuristic weapons, and other sophisticated technology. |

Features past, current, or future conflicts with weapons and organizations that are real or imagined. |

Anthropological Fiction |
Attempts to provide answers to the question of "What is man?". Deals with the similarities and differences between man, animal, or machine and may present data and ideas that are bizarre or unusual. |

Feminist Fiction |
Focused on theories that include gender inequality, sexuality, race, economics, and reproduction. Sometimes combined with utopias or dystopias to explore gender or power imbalances in society. |

Contains strong Christian themes or taken from a Christian point of view. Christian beliefs are often expressed by way of analogy or may be more explicit. |
