Introduction
Nederlandse Spellenprijs - The Netherlands - gaming industry award since 2001
The Nederlandse Spellenprijs is the Dutch game of the year award. As of 2012 a jury of journalists, game reviewers and game shop owners will first select a shortlist of 5 games around March, and then vote for the winner in June. To be eligible, games have to be published in Dutch between March 1st and the last day of February. The award will be presented to the publisher or distributor of the winning game at the Ducosim autumn fair (see http://www.ducosim.nl/nieuw/wiki.php?id=42).
The winner of 2012 is Lancaster.
History
From 2001 - 2011, nominations were done by a jury of journalists and game reviewers and they are announced in August. Each gamer could vote in September for their 3 favorite games; giving them 4-2-1 points. The award winner was announced just before the SpellenSpektakel fair, where the award was presented.
