GeekGold for Financial Support
Starting in 2008, in return for financially supporting BGG you receive 1 GeekGold for every dollar you spend. Since the end of 2010, bonus GeekGold was also awarded to all financial supporters of the site, based on the number of new supporters acquired during the annual support drive. The amounts of these supporter bonuses were as follows:
It used to be possible to spend geekgold to block advertisements, but sometime around January 2019 this option was removed.
How much GeekGold do you have? Where did you get it?
From the My Geek menu, select Profile, then click on the "GeekStuff" tab on the left between the "Games" and "Interests" tabs. That tab contains a breakdown of GeekGold collected, spent, remaining, etc. on the right side. You can also click on the numbers to see a further breakdown of where the money came from or how it was spent or tipped.
Click on the number Collected to see a history of where it all came from (tips, reviews, etc). Note: GeekGold received from eBay listings and voting in GeekMod is included in the total amount shown for Collected but is not displayed on the detailed transaction list.
GeekGold Exchange RateGeekGold holds a difficult to define, but discernible value against the US Dollar. The GeekGold Exchange Rate is approximately 50 GG to the dollar.
